The Grand National evokes many memories and almost every year has a nerve-tingling finish. Think of Red Rum, Aldaniti or that famous false start and you think of the National - horse racing’s premier and most popular event.
It attracts a world-wide TV audience of six million, but you could be there to savour the atmosphere on this very special day. From the moment you arrive at Aintree there is a buzz of anticipation, which rises to a crescendo as favourites and first timers alike, line up to take the flag.
Beecher's Brook, the Canal Turn, the Chair and four and a half miles of gruelling racing lie ahead before a new National Champion is crowned.
The racecourse:
Aintree racecourse is now enjoying its most successful period in
modern times. In the heart of the racecourse a new golf complex
features a superb driving range and one of the longest nine hole
golf courses in the UK.
The tickets:
Steeplechase: This is the largest enclosure, affording good views of the racing, large screen TV coverage of the event and ample catering and bar facilities. There is no access to the parade ring or winners enclosure.
Tattersalls: The most atmospheric enclosure, Tattersalls allows access to Aintree and Chair Pavilions and The Irish Bar, as well as allowing viewing of the winners enclosure and parade ring. The pavilions are two of the largest covered areas and the Aintree pavilion has a number of live acts taking place during the day.
Grandstand: Seats are available in the County Roof (probably the best views of the course but not covered) and Aldiniti stands, both incorporate plentiful bar catering and betting facilities. Badge holders also have access to all ground floor public stand areas.
